It´s been a bad month for me getting out and about with other things taking priority but I haven´t forgotten where they are. We paid a visit to the castle Calatrava la Nueva with our friend Trevor when he was over. It was a dull day at times and the sun was dipping when we were there, but the blackness that was about the grounds certainly brightened it up for me.
Take for example the Black Wheatear above. There were about half a dozen or so playing about the outer walls, sometimes coming almost close enough for a shot. There are always a few about here and far from being bi-tonal, I really think they are a beautiful bird that is somewhat elegantly dressed like a black-tie party-goer or posh butler.
There were also a number of Black Redstarts (I told you it was all blackness) about the walls.

Winter might be a bit cold and dull, but with so much black about, how could you be depressed?
